Constantine Maroulis of American Idol Fame to Star in Jacques Brel...

American Idol Season Four finalist Constantine Maroulis will follow up his Broadway debut in The Wedding Singer with a role in off-Broadway's Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. The singer will join the company on January 7, 2007, replacing current cast member Jim Stanek.

Trained at the Boston Conservatory of Music and Berklee College of Music, Maroulis' past theater credits include the North American and Asian tours of Rent, as well as regional productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Jesus Christ Superstar. A solo CD of Maroulis' own music is forthcoming in 2007.

With a cast of four actors and three musicians, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris transforms Brel's musical compositions into a timeless theatrical experience that examines themes of love, war, adventure, broken dreams, growing old and death, all performed with passion and humor. The original show opened in 1968 at The Village Gate in Greenwich Village and ran for more than four years. The current revival, directed by Gordon Greenberg, began performances at the Zipper on March 5.

Continuing in the cast of Jacques Brel are Robert Cuccioli, Natascia Diaz and Gay Marshall.
